Meet Energy Painter Cleon Peterson

meet an artist mondayCleon Peterson makes putting, graphic artwork illustrating and narrating the darkish energy dynamics that permeate, manipulate and compromise society. With aggressively blank traces, stylization that invokes classical mythology, boulevard artwork, branding, and state-sponsored propaganda, and a saturated palette of inky black, blood pink, and chapel white, Peterson blends non-public revel in with scuffling with demons into haunting portraits and chaotic scenes of injustice and depravity. His high-energy works are vigorous and demise, violence and disruption; however the compositions have the deliberative presence of icons, allegories, and logos — and increasingly more a way of reflective wit, darkish humor as a coping technique. How are atypical other folks so monstrous? How is monstrosity so gorgeous? Are we the great guys or the unhealthy guys? Peterson’s latest display is now open in New York at albertz benda.
